…and it all came tumbling down!

Day 970 since Thistle’s Major Works Programme Started
Now 638 days after Thistle’s E.ON contract failed on 30/11/16

…and Paul Nolan, the Sweep part of Sooty and a painter/handyman, demands to know of residents if anyone was up on the roof last night. Mind you, anyone with half a brain would never have asked that one.

Surprised? Not really

Two years ago, at the very start of Thistle’s incredibly failed and grossly mismanaged refurb programme, residents complained that the chimney slabs were poorly fitted. At first, Thistle in the guise of the grossly overpaid, self admitted, “ah’m no technical” Operations Manager, Daniella Sprott and her puppet on a string, Jeff Poulter the laughingly self claimed ‘Clerk of Works’ (but really only a plumber, maybe), denied the problem, as they always do.

Looks a lot smaller when it’s way up there. Bit different when it’s lying in huge pieces in residents’ gardens and paths

Nearly through the roof and straight through the plaster ceiling into the residents’ home below. A really close call

A foot or two to the right and during the day, someone could have been killed. Note Thistle’s lack of maintenance on the railings at this disabled resident’s home. The huge amounts of YOUR money spend on Bingo Nites and freebie weekends away for the incapable Management Committee would easily pay for this (and more)

Above, part of a letter from Thistle, 8 November 2016. Yes. 2016! Nothing to do with “the Association’s standard” but as a result of residents’ provable fact based complaints as Miss Sprott had previously denied that there were any problems

Dreadfully poor workmanship, 13 June 2017

It was discovered that the concrete slab the chimney pots sit on were not (and are still  not) properly fixed to the chimney breasts. The new copes sit on top of the old ones, hanging over the edges. The surfaces were not scribed to produce a rough finish, they did not use the correct bonding agent but rather used washing up liquid, the new and old copes were not bolted together, there were no drip lines (before residents complained) below and around the concrete slab originally.

Jeff Poulter, being an expert on all things at all times (and seemingly also a chimney guru), responsible for the overseeing of the project work (that being the job of a real Clerk of Works), had not noticed (or ignored) the glaring faults and did nothing. Except for his usual spinning of unbelievable stories and lies.

On the left, a large chunk of heavy broken concrete teetering on the edge. On the right, a garden where children play

Chimney breasts, thereafter, have been repaired as many as four times but remain shoddy and, as can now be seen, potentially dangerous.

This could have been a calamity with people injured by falling concrete. The pictures have been sent to Thistle for comment. Not doing any holding of breath.

Mind you, not to worry. Other than danger to life and limb, everything is covered by Thistle’s reputed “twenty five year warranty” which, of course, no one has ever seen.

3 April 2017, seventeen months ago, Thistle asked about the ‘warranty’. No response. note that the ‘transient limited company” referred to above is, surprise, surprise, has now been liquidated

Going back to an article in this blog on 3 April 2017, as above, inviting Misses McColgan and Sprott to confirm the details of the mythical warranty, nothing more has been heard. No response, no comment.

With Thistle, nothing changes.

Thistle’s City Building contractors have eventually appeared but no sign of Thistle management

Paul Nolan, the painter from City Building, currently retained at some cost to the residents’ association as a ‘Clerk of Works’ (which he sure is far from), when challenged by a neighbour in Ardnahoe Avenue, swiped away all comments by saying he was not from Thistle but City Building. Which one is it then? From Thistle when it suits him and not when it doesn’t and why is a painter doing this job? Is Jeff away in his palatial east of Scotland home counting his gold coins?

Next slavvering comment from this useless, lying troglodyte to a resident whilst looking at the mess (which he is supposed to inspect), “Was there anyone on the roof last night?“.

That’s Thistle tactics of invective at every point. Their braindead, desperate futile scrabbling to blame anyone and anything else where recrimination and responsibility can be shifted as far from Thistle as quickly as possible.

A resident quickly retorted to this moron, “Aye, the kids were playing football in the dark at 1130PM last night and climbed up to get their ball‘.

Suppose, at the same time, the made up possibility of someone being on the roof just prior to midnight, just decided, at the same time, to hack off big lumps of concrete. There is as much chance of that as finding any intelligence or civility within the bowels of Thistle Fort.

Anyway, as a matter of common courtesy, no doubt there will be a member of Thistle’s management onsite today to discuss the situation with concerned residents and association shareholders. Then again, probably not as they will be skulking away, hiding in the darkness

AT ANY TIME THROUGHOUT THIS DAY
DID A
THISTLE HOUSING
SENIOR MANAGER
ANY OTHER EMPLOYEE
or a
MEMBER OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
COMMUNICATE
IN ANY WAY
WITH
ANY THE AFFECTED RESIDENTS?

NOPE – NOT A SINGLE ONE

SAYS IT ALL!
IS IT NOT TIME THE  FESTERING CORE OF
THISTLE HOUSING
WAS EXCISED AND BOOTED INTO TOUCH?

You couldn’t make it up.
With Thistle, you don’t have to

Has this been reported to HSE, if not might be worth speaking to them. If the works are still not complete its technically still classed as a building site, therefor HSE regulations must apply….. just a thought

Thanks for my up address. Didn’t know that. Though why you choose to publish it is beyond me.
So you can slag of individuals without them having any right to reply, but get “arsey” when someone questions you – very democratic.
I don’t know anyone in Thistle housing. What I do know is this is the result of the thatcher sell off of council houses, and giving wee tin pot dictators like yourself the opportunity to be a nightmare owner. So fill your boots Tory-boy
